With the help of the government and estate owners, Darjeeling has managed to preserve its old-world colonial charm after so many years of the British Raj. Tea tourism, which is similar to wine tourism in Italy, is now being promoted in Darjeeling by using the well-maintained heritage bungalows that are located inside the vast tea estates.
With 78 expansive estates, Darjeeling has earned the moniker “Champagne of Tea,” and both the name “Darjeeling” and its logo are protected internationally as Geographical Indications. While visiting picturesque locations like Tiger Hill and Mirik, you would have the chance to witness the sunrise as well as the mesmerizing views of Mount Kanchenjunga.
Darjeeling is home to a variety of attractions, including dense pine forests, snow-capped hilltops, and endless tea gardens. Every year, tourists visit the hill town of Darjeeling for its breathtaking beauty.
Most people associate Darjeeling with its tea estates. The Happy Valley tea estate, which is hidden on a misty hill, ends up on the bucket lists of many travelers. Darjeeling tea’s ancestry and cultivation are deeply entwined with the history of this 1854 establishment. The fields in this garden, which is in the town of Darjeeling, are incredibly lush and endowed with a breathtakingly beautiful natural charm. Visit Happy Valley Tea Estate to get a glimpse into the fascinating process of making tea.
The only tea garden in the center of Darjeeling town is this one. The highest-quality Darjeeling tea is made at the factory in Happy Valley, which is also the highest in the area. Witnessing the procedure by which fresh tea leaves are picked, withered, rolled, fermented, dried, sorted, graded, and packed to produce a variety of teas—the traditional black tea, green tea, and exquisite specialty teas—is the best way to fully immerse yourself in the culture, history, and traditions of the area.
Visitors can get a glimpse of the fascinating process of making tea during a guided tour of the Happy Valley tea factory. You can relive nature and the beauty of Darjeeling by taking this 3 Nights/4 Days Darjeeling tea garden tour and experiencing its dazzling tea gardens.

After that, we’ll take part in a tea presentation given by a tea expert, which will be followed by a tasting session. Next, proceed to Happy Valley Tea Estate.
It is situated at a 6,300-foot elevation on a charming hillside. Happy Valley Tea Estate’s elevation is a benefit because it keeps the valley covered in mountain mist for the majority of the year, which has a distinctive impact on the tea plantation and gives the tea a distinctive flavor. In Darjeeling, the tea garden is renowned for producing the highest caliber tea.
Enjoy a stroll through the tea garden on the gentle hill slope upon arrival and catch a glimpse of the tea processing. Visit the factory and witness the entire tea manufacturing process. Visit the room where freshly harvested tea is stored on raised wooden beds for weathering, as well as the glass-enclosed area where you can observe the remaining steps in the making process.
Additionally, we will learn about the various characteristics of tea. The highest quality features a single bud with two leaves; the next best features a single bud with three leaves; and so on. Come back to Darjeeling in the late afternoon. The rest of the day is free for leisure activities or to explore Darjeeling’s vibrant market. Spend the night in a hotel.
To catch a glimpse of the sunrise from Tiger Hill, we will get up early today. Around 5:00 in the morning, we will leave the hotel and travel 10 kilometers to Tiger Hill. Enjoy the expansive views of the Mount Everest sunrise and Kangchenjunga from the observation deck after arriving.
We will visit the Ghoom Monastery, which Lama Sherab Gyatso built in 1857, before returning to Darjeeling. A 15-foot-tall statue of the future Buddha can be found inside the monastery, which practices Tibetan Buddhism in the Gelug tradition.
